How to set a move reminder in Alternate

Alternate can remind you before a supported move deadline for your saved car. Save parking, allow notifications, turn Move reminder on, and check Home for the actual scheduled alert time.

You can also choose a personal move time after checking the posted signs. That time stays separate from parking-rule guidance. An earlier known restriction takes priority, and a reminder does not confirm that parking is allowed.

Check the scheduled reminder

First, save your parking place. On Home, look at the move deadline and the separate Reminder row. The screenshot shows a move deadline of 8:30 AM and an alert at 7:45 AM; both are examples.

The free setting is 45 minutes before the move time. If you save parking less than 45 minutes before the deadline, the app schedules the reminder shortly after saving. Read the actual day and time shown on Home instead of assuming a full lead interval.

Turn reminders on

1. Open Settings in Alternate, then Reminders.
2. Turn on Move reminder.
3. Allow notifications if iPhone asks. If permission was denied, use Open settings, or Allow move reminders on Home, to open iPhone Settings and allow notifications for Alternate.
4. Return to Home and check the Reminder row again.

A usable future deadline is needed. Saving an address with unknown rules does not invent a rule-based move time. You can supply a personal time after reading the signs.

Set your own move time

Use this when you have checked the curb yourself and want to choose a time to move:

1. On Home for the parked car, tap Set a move time.
2. In Move reminder, set Your chosen move time to a future date and time. The editor uses New York time.
3. Read every sign and temporary notice beside your car. Turn on I checked every sign beside my car only after doing so.
4. Tap Save. Save stays disabled until you choose a future time and confirm the sign check.
5. Check Home for the resulting deadline and actual reminder time.

An earlier known restriction takes priority over your personal time. Setting a later time cannot override that restriction. Your lead setting in Settings determines when the alert is scheduled.

To change the time, open Set a move time again. Remove chosen time clears your personal choice; a known rule deadline can still supply a reminder. Cancel closes the editor without saving your changes.

Change the lead time

In Settings, open Reminders and look at Remind me. Free uses 45 minutes before. Alternate+ adds custom lead timing and reminders for eligible additional parked cars. Setting a personal move time itself does not require Alternate+.

The free reminder belongs to one explicitly assigned car. Swiping to another car does not transfer it. If Home offers Use free reminder here, that action explicitly moves the free reminder to the selected car.

If no reminder appears

Check that you saved the intended car, Move reminder is on, notifications are allowed, and there is a supported future deadline or valid chosen move time. For a free reminder, also check which car owns it. Home explains the current reminder state.

Focus, device settings, and system limits can delay delivery. Keep track of the move time yourself and check the posted signs. Use Plan a stay to inspect a departure against known rules; choosing a planner departure does not change the reminder.
